While state law regulates some aspects of online gambling, federal laws generally impose penalties for illegal Internet gambling. However, many states have not enacted legislation regulating online gambling. This has led to concerns that the Internet could be used to bring illegal gambling into their jurisdictions.<\/p>\n
As a result, the United States has been attempting to enforce its gambling laws on constitutional grounds. The Commerce Clause and the First Amendment have been put to the test in a number of cases. Several of these attacks have failed.<\/p>\n
One such case is United States v. K23 Group Financial Services. A group of Internet poker operators is charged with violating 18 U.S.C. 1955. They are also accused of money laundering.<\/p>\n
