Poker is a gambling game played by a group of people around a table. The aim of the game is to produce the highest possible hand. The player with the best hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
A poker game can be played with any number of players, but the ideal number is six or eight. Games are generally played with a standard pack of 52 cards. However, some variant games use multiple packs. Some have jokers and Wild Cards.<\/p>\n
Before the hand is dealt, each player must make an ante. This small bet gives the pot a value right away. Depending on the game, the ante can be different amounts.<\/p>\n
Each player is given one card face up and the remaining four cards are placed face down. The highest ranked card is the kicker.<\/p>\n
Once the cards are dealt, each player takes their turn to bet. When all the players have bet, the cards are turned face up. If there is a tie, the high card breaks it.<\/p>\n
Another betting interval occurs after the first and second rounds of dealing. After the fourth round of betting, the hole cards are shown.<\/p>\n
Each player then receives another card. Players may choose to replace some of their cards. In some poker games, the dealer may also be the first to act.<\/p>\n
