Poker is a card game played by two or more players. Each player has two cards which are dealt face down by the dealer. After each hand a round of betting begins. The first two bets must be matched or raised by the other players before another card is dealt face up in the center of the table, known as the flop. After the flop a player may choose to fold their hand, call the bet or raise it.<\/p>\n
The best hand wins the pot. A good way to improve your chances of winning is to learn how to read other players and pick up on their tells (eye movements, idiosyncrasies, hand gestures, betting behavior etc). Also it’s important to build your comfort with risk-taking by taking smaller risks in lower stakes hands before moving onto higher-stakes games.<\/p>\n
The rank of a poker hand is determined by the value of the highest card in the hand, followed by the kicker (a pair), then three of a kind, straight, flush and finally two pairs.
